Shanghai Government Scholarship 2024-25 offers full-free scholarships for international undergraduate or postgraduate degree applicants, covering all expenses below:
Types A
- Type A is a full scholarship.
- Students who are exempted can stay on the campus and receive full-scope insurance.
- Also, students will be given a monthly living allowance of CNY3500 for doctorate programs, 300 yuan/month.
Type B
- This type of research is referred to as a partial scholarship of Type B.
- No tuition fees and complete health insurance coverage are provided.

- Certified copies of each degree by SGS.
- Photocopy of Passport.
- All transcripts are attested copies.
- A medical or physical exam certificate.
- Blood report photocopy.
- Letter of Acceptance from the university (if any)
- Certificate of Language Proficiency in Chinese or English.
- One of the following documents:
- The study plan or proposal, research plan, letter of intent / statement of purpose and motivation document
- Abstract for PhD thesis
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidates are required to have HSK4 language proficiency in corresponding with the program’s and university’ requirements.
- Chinese do not apply for this grant; international students can.
- Students below 23 years of age applying into the pre-college program are required to hold a high school diploma.
- Those BS students that are under 25 years of age should have a high school diploma.
- For applicants of MS degrees less than 35 years old, it is required to have a bachelor’s degree.
- The Master’s degree holders are qualified to join the PhD program provided that they have not attained 40 years.
- Candidates should have an outstanding academic performance and they must meet the entrance requirements for both university and program.
- It is only for applicants who do not have award from the Chinese government or organizations are eligible to apply.
